Ferdinand the Faithful and Ferdinand the Unfaithful: Once upon a time, a poor couple had a son named Ferdinand the Faithful. When Ferdinand turned fourteen, his father gave him a special key and told him to go to the castle on the mountain. Whatever he found inside would be his.
Excited, Ferdinand climbed the mountain and opened the castle door with the key. Inside, he discovered a magnificent white horse. Happy with his newfound friend, Ferdinand decided to travel the world with the magical horse.
During his journey, Ferdinand met another man named Ferdinand the Unfaithful, who had learned some wicked magic. They both decided to work in the service of the king. However, the kingdom had a problem—the queen didn’t love the king.
The queen knew a bit of magic that could make someone’s head come off and then put it back on. Sneakily, she tried this magic on Ferdinand the Faithful, and to everyone’s surprise, it worked! Then, she tried it on the king but pretended that she couldn’t put his head back on.
Seeing this, Ferdinand the Faithful felt sorry for the king and helped him. However, the queen had other plans. She decided to marry Ferdinand the Faithful instead.
